Modules with a serial interface are called "serial displays". The serial interface can now be an RS-232, an SPI or an I²C bus. Controlled in series, a few pins are required on the controller and can therefore also bridge longer distances (RS-232 / RS-485). Functions such as deleting or positioning the cursor, and in the case of graphics-capable module panels, graphics and icons are also displayed via the serial interface.
