An intelligent display has graphic functions which can be used in a kind of high-level language. Smart displays also offer one or more built-in character sets; the letters no longer have to be built up pixel by pixel as with other graphic displays. You can control, regulate and save.

Displays are intelligent if they can be controlled more than just via an RGB interface with a permanent data stream (e.g. via SPI or USB, I²C or also RS-232 / RS-485). They have a memory for several pages and various additional functionalities. Often digital inputs and outputs, and the lighting can also be controlled intelligently as required. Modern modules work with screen objects, so that every element can be manipulated intelligently on the display during operation (transparency, size, position, text, etc.).
